at Nelson Nature School
Holiday programmes
These will be closed for the January period, so we can give proper time and dedication to our other programmes. However, we will be running "short and sharp" workshops most Thursdays and Saturdays for different groups of people.
Here, we're all about building the healthy body + healthy habits + healthy mind. So come join us for a meaningful week, one where we play around free as a bird, connect with the bush, build solid friendships, and learn who we are, where we are and how to be with others.
We gather in small groups (our max ratio per adult is 1:8)
Where: Branford Park is home-base, one day at the beach and at the Brook Sanctuary in Nelson.
When: Term 2 school holidays in April 2025, until school starts up again.
Who: Open for children 5-12 years old.
If you (as a parent/caregiver/whānau) would like to be an active volunteer for part or all of the sessions let us know! We're keen to make this a collaborative space with families.
A big focus for us will be creating kaitiakitanga, a deep connection between the kids and the land we are on, a responsibility to care for the space. That sense of belonging within our environment. We've chosen public parks so the children can go back later on and grow older with it.
So grab your hats, bring some friends from school
and come along for some busy days of adventuring!

Fees
Our termly fees for 2025 are $70 per child/per day. There is a huge benefit to enrolling for a week at least, versus just a day, like allowing us to properly know your child and for them to get to know the space and grow.
We have a Sibling Discount of 15% for families enrolling two or more children.
There is also a First Week discount of an additional 10% off for new whānau joining the sessions.
We are working hard to find funding for sponsorships, please email us if you think this would make a difference to you and you'd like to support this process in a big or small way.
Once paid, to cancel your enrolment please email or text us. We will staff and resource our termly programme on the number of children enrolled so cancelling a week before the session will recur a 50% refund, and cancelling 3 days before the session will mean no refund is possible. Thank you for your understanding.

What is a regular day like?
Here is an approximation of how days may look. Depending on the kids' interests and location it may vary. But it works as a snapshot ;)

This is a generalisation of the daily flow. Children will be free to eat when they are hungry, set their own times as a group based on their intentions, and choose their own challenges and projects.
