On Tuesday afternoons we’ll be having a grand old time in the wild! Sometimes it’s foraging, following the stream, building, putting tents up, painting… in general just having a moment to come back to ourselves after a busy school day and still learning and growing while we rest. Our groups are kept small to ensure quality interactions (+screen free!). Come and join us to see why kids regularly say “this was the best day ever”.
At 3pm we pick the kids up from Enner Glynn school and walk together to a “secret” nearby park. Children from other schools will meet us there at 3.15pm. Pick up is from the park at 4.45pm. We won’t start on the first week that schools re-open, as families have mentioned it’s nice to have a couple of weeks to settle in first: from 5th June to 3rd July, our term 2 has 9 weeks.
Each day is $25+GST and we request a full term commitment to allow that special confidence building and routine to settle. We’ve toggled it to $0.00 so we can send you a personalised invoice.
Can’t wait to see you there and to share some quality time in a beautiful setting!
Spark your child’s imagination with our One Day programme. From 9am-3pm we’ll be in the bush, surrounded by natural sounds.
Our Wednesdays happen in Marsden Valley, Stoke. We have rotating locations and will email you more info shortly.
Our child-led pedagogical approach means we can’t guarantee what activities they’ll be most interested in, but experience tells us there’s likely den building, stream exploring, whittling and clay, stories at picnic time… and even more stories when you’re going back home (unless they fall asleep in the car).
From 20th April to 3rd July. Term 2 has 11 weeks.
We’ve toggled it to $0.00 so we can send you a personalised invoice with any applicable discounts (i.e. returning family or siblings) or split payment request. $70/day +GST.

Our child-led pedagogical approach means we can’t guarantee what activities they’ll get into most, but experience tells us there’s likely to be den building, far-too-much-tag-for-one-day, stream exploring, natural craft, stories at picnic time… and even more stories when you’re going back home (unless they fall asleep in the car).
Thursdays are spent up the Brook Valley at alternating sites: home base is at Eureka Park. Our rainy day location is nearby at the the Waimarama Community Gardens. Once/term tamariki love heading out to the beach and to the Brook Sanctuary.

Not sure if Nature School is the right fit? Join us for a try day! Your child will experience a full day of forest school alongside our enrolled tamariki—exploring, playing, and connecting with nature at their own pace.
After booking, we'll be in touch within the week to connect, hear about your child's interests, and find a date that works best for your whānau. Drop off is 9am-3pm, or you're welcome to stay until your child feels comfortable. We're flexible and focused on what works best for each tamariki.
This is a chance to see if our child-led, outdoor learning approach feels like home for your family.
ONLY 1 SPOT ON THURSDAY LEFT (as of 3rd April)
Monday 13 – Friday 17 April |
9am – 3pm daily (8.45-3.15 is somewhat possible, please let us know ahead)
A full week in the forest for tamariki who thrive when they have time and space to just be. We follow the same approach as our regular programmes — whittling, foraging, climbing, building, land art, exploring streams, and everything in between — just with five unhurried days to really sink into it.
Small group. Big days. No screens. Priorities: holistic health, connecting with the world around us and appreciating those around us.
Most kids would agree…. one day isn’t enough! We usually hear how much they want to come back, and we notice actual growth in children when they’re with us for an extended time (not just a day). However, we know family life is wiggly, so yes, there is an option to choose which days will suit your whānau best. We’ll send you a personalised invoice, daily price is $63+GST.
Open to tamariki aged 5–12. Drop-off 9am, pick-up 3pm. $63/day +GST
A gentle introduction to forest school for our youngest explorers. From 9am-12pm on Wednesdays, your child will discover the magic of outdoor learning in a small, nurturing group designed just for them. Sometimes we join the main group for an hour or so, other times our adventures lead elsewhere.
We will be up Marsden Valley and at Fairfield House: we rotate locations and will email you more details shortly. Small group, their own educator, and plenty of time to wonder at the smaller things that make nature extraordinary. Perfect for those transitioning into “normal school”.
From 9am-12noon, 20th April to 3rd July. Term 2 has 11 weeks.

Unless you are receiving a personalised sponsorship through Sport NZ or our own fundraising, most families are eligible for discounts like
10% off for siblings,
a free try day,
or 10% off for returning families.
And if you’re after split payments we’ve updated our systems so it’ll be much easier:
We got so fed up of tech trying to automatise this all that now we
manually personalise and send out invoices. Smooth.
As always, if your preferred payment method isn’t available or if it isn’t working just email us at nelsonnatureschool@gmail.com and we’ll figure something out together.
