Nelson’s Nature School

Learning what it means to be human
in this wild, wonderful world

The Nelson Nature School is open for primary aged children (5-12) in Whakatū-Nelson area.
To explore and grow in the outdoors as the full human beings that they are:

with powerful relationships,
building their personal identity with confidence,
and creating a bond with mother nature that will grow with them.

    -Thursdays in Nelson.

Child-centred and nature-focused, with small groups and experienced educators having
    one great day after another.

Get the kids creating meaningful connections and feeling healthy and happy! These are a great time to get to know each other and for the kids to feel stronger in outdoor spaces.

  • Two children, one boy and one girl, crouching on a forest trail near a small animal burrow, with dense foliage and trees surrounding them.

    School trips

A tailor-made bush trip for primary and intermediate schools. So kids can integrate classroom learnings in the outdoors and let their hair down while staying safe.

This can be organised as a continuous programme (i.e. every Friday) or as a one-off.

RAMS forms can be made available.

Ready to enrol?

Thank you! I didn’t even need to ask the kids if they enjoyed it, the smiles beaming ear to ear said it all!

I want to be outside and make stuff and play with my friends.” “I want to learn about birds, not see them in books.

I think other home-school parents just need a day to do All The Other Things, knowing their child is happy, growing, and safe.

It was so cool to drive into the school and see them all there having a shared experience. You really bring magic to this place
